Masako Shinn served on the Board of Trustees of The Asia Foundation from 2012 to 2020. She is a partner of Graphis Inc., a publisher of books and magazines on design, and is one of The Asia Foundation’s Lotus Circle Advisors. Prior to Graphis, she held senior positions at Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc., Salomon Brothers, Inc., and Morgan Stanley, Inc. Mrs. Shinn is also a Trustee of the Japan ICU Foundation, and has served on the board of the Freer and Sackler Galleries, the Japan Society, and the Kennedy Center’s President’s Advisory Council on the Arts. She received her bachelor’s degree from the International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan, master’s degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School, master’s degree in East Asian Studies from Columbia University, and doctoral degree in Design History from Bard Graduate Center.
