Governance and Legal Specialist, Cambodia

Diya Nag is the Governance and Legal Specialist for the Foundation in Cambodia. In her current role, she leads the governance and law portfolios and also provides support on environmental resilience programming. She formerly served as associate director of Programs for The Asia Foundation’s country office in India. Diya first joined the Foundation in 2009 as a junior associate in San Francisco. Her areas of specialization include governance, law and justice, gender equality, and regional and international cooperation. Diya also has prior experience working with the United Nations Development Program in India, and with the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative on promoting rule of law, and improving access to justice for vulnerable groups. Before relocating to Asia to work on international development, she practiced consumer law in New York City.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Rights and Sociology from Barnard College, Columbia University; Juris Doctor with a specialization in Global Law and Practice from the Syracuse University College of Law. Diya is a member of the New York Bar, First Appellate Division.
