In Malaysia, our focus is on strengthening entrepreneurship, international development cooperation, and international competitiveness; providing opportunities for women and girls; improving security in vulnerable regions; and engaging young Malaysians to improve skills and resilience to succeed in the new economy.

Accessing the Digital Economy

As an Advanced Middle-Income Country (AMIC), Malaysia requires a highly skilled and resilient workforce. Covid-19 badly impacted Malaysia’s small and medium enterprises, many of which are led by women. The Foundation provides training, mentoring, and skill-building for women and marginalized communities to enable them to move their small businesses online, attend entrepreneurship ‘bootcamps’, access careers in tech, and upgrade their digital literacy.

Books for Malaysia

Books for Asia in Malaysia targets underserved and rural communities, public schools, universities, and libraries and has distributed over 2.8 million books in Malaysia since its independence in 1957. The Foundation continues to work with Johor Corporation Foundation and the Sarawak Foundation on this program, especially as Covid-19 pandemic has brought about new challenges for children to access books. To continue the Foundation’s effort to develop a love of reading, Johor Corporation Foundation has been instrumental in promoting Let’s Read—Asia’s only free digital library for children in Malaysia. Children across Malaysia are now able to access both English and Malay books through Let’s Read from their homes.
