Erman A. Rahman is IDIQ activity director for the USAID ERAT program in Indonesia. He formerly led the Foundation’s local and economic governance programs in Indonesia, promoting improvement of basic services and a business-enabling environment by improving access to information, inclusive participation and social accountability, public procurement, business licensing, regulatory reform and civil society strengthening. He previously worked on policy analysis and advocacy promoting sustainable development in Papua. His analytical work includes political economy analyses of basic service provision, procurement reform and social inclusion; performance-based fiscal transfer; transportation and regional development; business licensing; subnational conflict and aid; agriculture and rural development; and village and local governance.
From 2002 to 2008, he worked with the World Bank’s Jakarta office, leading local governance and basic service delivery projects. Prior to this, he worked at the National Development Planning Agency of the Government of Indonesia.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia and master’s degree in Transportation from Northwestern University.
