John Robinson is an expert in giving and philanthropy, most recently for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art as Leadership Gifts Officer. During his time at SFMOMA, the museum underwent a massive building expansion designed by Snøhetta, adding 45,000 Square feet of free public access and reached $610 million milestone with capital campaign contributions from 500 donors. John’s professional experience also includes an 8-year tenure as executive director of the Santa Barbara Symphony. After studying Asian History at Haverford College, John spent three years in Kyoto, Japan, where he received a scholarship from the Urasenke Foundation to study the Way of Tea. He is fluent in Japanese and has a master’s degree in Music from the New England Conservatory in Choral Conducting.
