Project Manager, Urban Governance, Mongolia

Khaliungoo Ganbat became project manager for the Urban Governance Project at The Asia Foundation in Mongolia in 2019. In this role, she oversees the implementation of Urban Governance Project in partnership with the Municipality of Ulaanbaatar by contributing to municipal budget transparency, de-concentration of public services, and establishing a systematic training program for civil servants. Since taking over this role, Khaliungoo invested in integration of e-governance in all aspects of project outcomes, including electronic voting and online public service delivery for citizens and online trainings for civil servants.

Prior to joining The Asia Foundation, Khaliungoo worked for 10 years on various projects across Mongolia, Australia, USA, Canada, Dominican Republic, and Guatemala, for organizations including UNDP, UNFAO, and Oyu Tolgoi. She has experience in the areas of community engagement and government relations in very challenging environments.

Education: Khaliungoo received her master’s degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University, where she studied in the Graduate Program in Economic Development as a Fulbright Scholarship Fellow from 2015- 2017.
