DOWNLOAD

Covid-19 remained by far the biggest challenge for individuals, the community, and the country in Timor-Leste. Between September 17 to 23, 2021, Mata Dalan Institute conducted 409 phone interviews with Timorese women and men. There were 1,183 active Covid-19 cases in Timor-Leste, and the State of Emergency had been renewed for the 17th time when the survey was conducted. The research aims to understand the concerns and challenges of the Timorese people and their attitudes towards the government during the Covid-19 period. In this round, they trust the government to take care of them during Covid-19, the lowest recorded across all rounds with 25% compared to June 34%, May with 34%, and February with 54%. Other than that, in the September survey, the respondents continue to apply Covid-19 safe behaviors, such as wearing a face mask (80%), washing their hands (52%), and maintaining a 1.5m distance (36%). This research is supported by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
