Milika Naqasima Sobey is an indigenous Fijian and a marine scientist by training. She taught at the University of the South Pacific before leaving to join the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, where she managed donor-funded Climate Change Adaptation projects in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga.

Milika then served as a science and project implementation advisor for the Pacific Ridge to Reef Program at the Pacific Community. She joined The Asia Foundation in January 2021.

Education: Milika obtained her doctoral degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Essex in the UK. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of the South Pacific.
